I’ve officially been a ‘Liverpudlian’ for a month now, and I’m loving it!
The course I’m doing is actually really enjoyable and is head on, having us out doing voxpops on week four. Which was fab and has totally increased my confidence for working in this field.
I still haven’t decided how I feel about shorthand, it’s cool and interesting yet it’s a total mess at the same time.
Getting out more and exploring the city is something I really need to do more of, but then again it’s hard to do when there’s so much available.
After Dylan visited last weekend I realised I was missing home so I booked flights to head back during the ‘study week’. I’m so excited for it, mainly so I can eat proper ham from the Deli and enjoy a proper home cooked meal. Hell yeah.
Speaking of home….
It’s a strange time in Northern Ireland right now.
Even though I’m not living there any more I still keep up with the news online, as well as hearing the local gossip from my mum. She’d make a great reporter.
So let’s start with the good news, we’re in the Supreme Court to fight for our rights to have the 1967 Abortion Laws extended to NI. Which is just ridiculous to start off with cause it’s a UK law and we are part of the U.K.
This is fab news for our country’s progress. Hopefully once this is passed, our human rights will extend to having gay marriage made legal.
Mentioning that, let’s head to the bad news. Well, it depends on how you view it. It looks like we’re heading towards direct rule. Again.
To be completely honest, I have no clue what’s going on and it’s hard to know if this is a good or bad thing.
I suppose at the end of the day it’s a good thing as we’ll eventually have a government after Stormont collapsed in January.
The bad part is that the British government is in full control, ie the Tories, who have buddied up to the DUP after the last general election. Once again, I have no clue what is going on between those two parties but I just know it’s not good.
This post is a little all over the place, which is basically how I feel right now. I’m going to try to keep to one subject for my next posts. If I can.
